Keith MacConkey began his martial arts training at the age of 10 in Chattanooga, TN under the tutelage of Grandmaster Won Gi Chu at Chu's Taekwondo and Judo School.  After 2 1/2 years of training and receiving his 2nd Gup, Brown Belt, he moved to Alabama where he continued his training at Chung's Taekwondo Academy in Pelham. Studying under Master Byung Chul Chung, he earned his 1st Degree Black Belt in 2003.

Sensei* MacConkey began his Aikido and Japanese Karate training in 2004 under the direction of Shihan* Van Bushnell at USA Martial Arts in Bluff Park.  A year later, he enrolled in the uchideshi program, where he became a live-in student and an integral part of the school, focusing on his own training and the instruction of others, as well as the inside operations of the Bluff Park training center.

In 2007, Sensei MacConkey was chosen to participate in a 5 year instructor-in-training program.  He accepted the challenge and excelled in his training.  In 2012, after completing 8 years of personal development, training & teaching, his Senior Instructor, Shihan Van Bushnell, appointed him to the position of Head Instructor (Dojo Cho) of USA Martial Arts Bluff Park.  His selection was approved by both Master Roger Jarrett - President & Founder of the USA Martial Arts Federation and Hanshi* Kevin Blok - Director of the Chudokai Aikido Federation International, and was unanimously supported by his fellow Dojo Cho within the Southeast Region and students throughout the organization.

Sensei MacConkey is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo/Karate, a 4th Degree Black Belt in Aikido, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Iaido and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Judo/Jujitsu. He is also certified as a "National Referee" by the US Olympic Committee's governing body for sport karate and is a Pan American Karate Federation (PKF) judge.

Sensei MacConkey upholds USA Martial Arts Federation standards with his commitment to the enhancement of his community through excellence in the martial arts.  Together with his wife, Sarah, who is also a black belt instructor, he teaches top quality training programs which incorporate self-defense and physical fitness with the core values of respect, discipline and self-confidence.
